More!Cat

It seems that both Alexandra and Lola (pretty kitty name, innit?) are really lucky: Alexandra, because it's her first cat, and it's the most relaxed, laid-back and uncomplicated kitty evah, and Lola because she struck gold -- 1 dedicated mother goddess, and 2 dedicated deputy mother goddesses (Stefanie and myself) who'll be vying for the privilege of looking after her when mother goddess is gone.
OK, granted, she's still young, but imagine the stress of 1) getting lost or being abandoned (I'm sure that's what happened), 2) being outside in a strange world without food or water, though fortunately in warm weather, 3) being picked up by new human and given a bath, 4) getting used to new place, 5) more new humans. In spite of all that, she's obviously very fond of human company, stayed with us the whole evening, partly playing, partly snoozing, partly going from one lap to the next, and showed absolutely no signs of stress. She even is one of those rare cats who let you scritch their belly without immediately killing the hand.
Can you tell I'm in love?
It remains to be seen, though, how she's going to cope with longer periods of being on her own. Stefanie and I will both spend time with her, but more than 2 hrs a day won't be possible. Well, let's see. A second cat is always a possibility, especially while she's still so young.

Not least due to Lola we had a great girls' night yesterday, and I'm a bit tired today. Never mind, I'll be bad and not go to tonight's reception (10th anniversary of an Austrian company, but I'm sure they can do without me) and stay home instead. Gym after work, of course, but relaxation and probably an early night after that. I'll be out tomorrow and Friday night, so a bit of home-and-boyz time is necessary.

Still not looking forward to going to Vienna. It's coooold there! However, thoughtful Janine got me a one-week subscription for a gym very close to home, so I won't have to go running in the cold but will be able to exercise in shiny, new gym. And I'm going to meet [livejournal.com profile] gypaetus for the very first time, which is something I'm looking forward to a lot. Plus, dinner with friends on Saturday, and I suppose there might be shoppingness, too. Not too much, but I hope I'll be able to find a pair of brown suede boots.

I think I might nip out during lunch break today and go buy new running and tennis shoes. And some more warm sports clothing -- that's always nice, because it's easily justifiable shopping but still shopping.
