Packing

Much as I love going on holiday, I hate packing. Packing with the, ahem, collaboration of two interested kittens is an entirely new experience.
So it's going to be 10 days at a health spa, complete with kittens, laptop, cigarettes (it shouldn't get too healthy, after all) and, of course, my best friend. Oh, and books, of course--guess the weight of my luggage. Anyhow, that's what 'holiday' means for me: reading, writing, relaxing. Sleeping, too. And hopefully better than I've been these last two months, due to the heat wave that's currently dehydrating Europe. I couldn't imagine living elsewhere than in the city, but in times like these, it has the disadvantage of never cooling down, not even during the night.
Went to the hairdresser's, too. Don't think I've forgotten to pack anything--usually it's either neightwear or toothbrush.
We-ell, that's it for the moment. More relaxed entries to be expected once I'm there.

And I hoped cigarettes and writing would remain the only ones... Duh.
Definition of 'powerless' anybody? Here you go: You're showering and, through the plexiglass window, you see one of your cats, perched on the highest possible point of the scratching post, looking at the chandelier with an expression not unlike Sir Edmund Hillary's when he first saw the Mount Everest. And you hit the glass with your palm, yelling "Lucius, no! Lucius no!" (sounds fanfic-y, doesn't it ;) ) and are very conscious that, if there's to be a rescue mission 1) you're naked and sudsy, 2) your naked, sudsy self racing out of the shower and across the flat will be an exhilarating spectacle for the people across the courtyard, 3) if Lucius comes down with the chandelier and you're totally wet, there might be a lovely firework but you're not likely to enjoy it for long. Otherwise, everything's fine. Hee.
Saw with immense pleasure that 4 people have added me to their friends' list, and added resmiranda and meanmoppet myself. Come to think of it, this isn't bad at all. It's going to save lots of time otherwise wasted with writing emails. Remember: don't be TOO bitchy. More to remember: if you have the intention of writing evil things about your boss (unavoidable), MUST choose 'no signature' option when calling in sick via email. *snort*

The temptation of writing this in "Diary of a Provincial Lady" style is overwhelming. I had no idea it existed until Lady Alice Kyteler came up with the wonderful "Diary of a Provincial Potions Master". I ordered Delafield's book from amazon and have just finished it. Had me in stitches for most of the time.

Oh, and something else: am finishing Chuck Palahniuk's 'Lullaby'. Definitely a very different take on magic, but also definitely more fascinating than JKR's.
