Decisions, decisions...
Oct. 5th, 2003 08:12 amThis is silly and funny. (Snape has a somewhat embarrassing problem)
Guess what I just did? Registered at NaNoWriMo. Not sure whether to jump up and down or hit my head repeatedly with a frying pan. Come to think of it, I can do both at the same time (plus, if I aim carefully, I won't have to jump for too long, which is definitely a bonus)
I decided to give it a try, because it's the best way of getting a rough draft for my orginal novel written. If I really finish it, I can spend the next months editing, fine-tuning etc. But, and that's what's important, there will be something to work on. So, yes, I think it was a good idea to take the jump.
Still working on the Lucius/Hermione piece, which is getting increasingly disturbing. Plus, I'm trying something new: a Tom Riddle/ Grindelwald/ Dumbledore/ McGonagall gen fic, consisting of an--as of yet indetermined--number of 200-word drabbles. Not only is drabble-writing an excellent exercise, this way of tackling the story also has another advantage: should I feel that drabbles aren't enough, I can still turn them into longer chapters.
Right now, I've written ten or so. It's like having a blank wall, onto which I'm pinning snapshot after snapshot. Very intriguing.
Did I mention that Cornelius is the clingiest cat ever? The moment he hears me sit down at my desk, he's alreay there, demanding admission to my lap. Which he mostly gets (who can resist those blue eyes?), although writing in this position is very uncomfortable.
