Yes, that was a very, very lazy weekend. In a good way, though. I did some shopping on Saturday, and on Saturday night watched a long-overdue video together with Janine. I've never read any of Henning Mankell's detective stories (featuring Kommissar Vallander) but this was the second film based on the books I've seen, and I liked it a lot. It's a Swedish production, for TV not cinema, and they divided it into 2 parts of 1h 45 min each. Much to the advantage of pacing, plot detail etc. Moreover, the actor playing Vallander, that disillusioned, obese, alcohol-drenched middle-aged policeman with more issues than hair on his head, is excellent. The plots are intricate, without becoming incomprehensible, there's a lot of references to contemporary life and society in Sweden (and they neither embellish nor avoid the problems) and the story is--rather surprisingly--more character- than plot-based.
I've also started reading a new book (MUST post my thoughts on Byatt's 'Whistling Woman', just for myself and before I forget too much about it). The new book is 'The Company' by Arabella Edge. I'd love to discuss it, if anybody has read it, so I won't yet voice my opinion.

Orpheus 13 is progressing in a very satisfactory manner. I think the orginial estimate of the whole thing arriving at about 40 chapters might hold true. And I'm really glad Lucertola is 15 instead of 11, as the interaction with her parents and others becomes more interesting to write (and, hopefully, also to read).

Oh, and of course I mustn't forget to upload ch. 6 :)
