Is there anything that could possibly make me feel worse than accidentally hurting one of my boyz? I suppose there is, but can't think of anything right now. Last night I was tidying up the bedroom, putting away laundry etc., while ze boyz kept chasing each other at lightning speed. Usually I always look down when I'm walking, so as not to tread on a paw or tail, but I thought they were out in the living room and so didn't watch my feet. Stupid me--because exactly at the moment my right foot was moving forward, Cornelius crashed into it full force, with the left side of his head. Poor boy yowled and retreated under the bed. I managed to coax him out of there (hackles raised and tail all bushy) so as to apolgize and cuddle him and have a look at his left eye and teeth. The imapct had been very strong, so strong that my foot hurt. But fortunately there was no damage done. Only the poor cat went into full alert every time I walked past him. Then I had the brilliant idea of removing my white socks and putting on dark red ones, which seemed to somewhat reassure him. And I have the distinct impression that an animal knows exactly whether you hurt it accidentally or deliberately. Cats usually don't forgive easily (or so I heard). But an hour after the incident, Cornelius was already sitting on my lap, purring. Needless to mention that I was very, very relieved.
Because of cuddling ze boy and generally behaving like an upset hen, I didn't manage to completely finish the second seam of the couch cover. Doesn't matter, though. I know it won't be finished before I start painting the kitchen, so it doesn't really matter if it's done by Monday or Tuesday.
Orpheus 32 is finished. It seems as if there are going to be 34 or 35 chapters. And now, finally, here's #29. Enjoy!
