If I have to watch or listen to Mr. Bremer's "We gat 'im" one more time, I swear I'll go into a fit of hysterics.
Goddamned, insufferable gits, all of them.
Bush, for obvious reasons. No need to elaborate.
Blair, because he's a Bush-arse-licking creature.
The French and German foreign ministers, for congratulating the Americans on something which HAD to happen, sooner or later, only because they hope that, if they praise Bush, they'll get a slice of the cake.
Our foreign minister, for the same reasons as Messrs. Villepin and Fischer, and for being a stupid, opportunistic cow.
Does anybody in America really believe that Hussein's capture is going to change all that much? So why are they suddenly acclaiming and endorsing chimpanzee no.1? Is it because no American soldiers have died during the last bombings--obviously dead Iraquis aren't really important...
I know and believe that resorting to violence is never the answer. But sometimes I can understand those who throw bombs, merely to show the bigheads of this world that they can NOT do whatever they want and get away with it.

More ranting, this time about the EU.
I seriously believe I'm turning into a Franco-Germanophobe (friends excluded of course)
Only because they used to be archenemies and their hostilities shook the whole European continent for a good 400 years, doesn't mean that their newfound friendship is worth everything Europe has achieved over the past 50 years. I'm really glad that, with those two countries reconciled, the danger of an inner-European war has gone down to practically zero. That's fine. But now they're best buddies. First, they decide that the Stability Pact (which they insisted was absolutely necessary some years ago) is too hard on their economies, so they can't stick to it. Then, when it comes to a decision about the new EU-constitution, they try to blackmail smaller countries (Spain and Poland) into renouncing their justified claims (i.e. the number of votes they'll have in the Ministers' Council, sanctioned by the Treaty of Nice) by threatening that, unless they cede, the EU is going to break apart--a core, consisting of the rich countries, and the rest, i.e. poorer countries. In other words: Unless you agree to our every demand, you won't get any more money.
It's disgusting, and however often people shrug and observe that these are the ways of the world, I'll never be able to accept it.
And politicians complain about people's growing disinterest in politics. What the fuck are they expecting? You can't give people the feeling that, whatever they do or say, it doesn't matter, and then wail about low participation in elections, refusing to recognize that you've thoroughly frustrated them.

OK, rant over. I'll return to novel-related research now. Not that it makes sense on a larger scale, but at least it makes me happy.

Changing the password on my office computer from 'Luciuscock' to 'Slytherincock'. It just offers my imagination a much wider range of possibilities...

OK, and now Orpheus 35 )
