Small revelation of the literary kind
Feb. 7th, 2005 06:26 amI guess everybody has already had what Freud calls 'Aha-Erlebnis'. I don't know the technical term in English, but it means something like The Oh-My-God-Yes-That's-IT!!! Experience.
I had one yesterday and loved it. Two characters of J. Cartwright's 'The Promise of Happiness' are talking literature, and one of them mentions Conrads's 'Heart of Darkness', which the other only knows as 'Apocalypse Now'.
Having seen Apocalypse about 15 years ago, and read HoD but a few months ago, I have to admit I never made the connection. But to suddenly see it was... well, just WOW!
