Don't really remember Wednesday. Thursday and Friday though were very, very exhausting. The oral part of the admission exam for consular/administrative staff took place on Thursday and Friday. I'm a member of the commission, which means being stuck there from 8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. (on Friday it was actually 7.30), posing questions and listening to everybody else's questions and the respective answers very attentively, because each member gives marks not only for their own, but for all answers. So no sneaking out for a cigarette or anything. No lunch break, either. or rather, half an hour, which everybody has to use for popping into their offices and checking the mail. Which I did in the morning as well, so I arrived at the office at about 7.15 a.m., which means I had to get up at 5 a.m.
104 people took the written exam, 33 of them made it to the oral part, and we hired 12. 5 of these are absolutely fabulous, the rest is OK.
The first part of Saturday was pure laziness (well deserved I think). In the afternoon my nephew Daniel and my ex-sister-in-law droppd by for coffee, then we went to play billiards, and afterwards Daniel and I went to see 'Meet the Fockers'. I'd loved 'Meet the Parents' and was quite sceptical - as I always am about sequels - but the addition of Hoffmann and Streisand made for abolutely hilarious scenes.
Yesterday started with a migraine, which I tried in vain to sleep off, so I gave in and took some painkiller, since I wanted to go to the gym in the late afternoon. Which I did. 2 hours of working out made me just tired enough to slip into bed at 10, so I'm feeling well rested today.
And now it's shower time. And then off to work, where probably quite a lot of work has been accumulating during my absence.
