Went shopping yesterday (oh, how much more enjoyable it is now that I don't have to search for bigger sizes) and bought - among other things - a black suede coat. Half-thigh-length and very, very nice. I'd bought its beige brother some 3 weeks ago and couldn't resist when I saw they still had the black one. Blessed be H&M who sell a perfectly nice suede coat at €100.
Not much else going on, neither work-wise nor privately. Since there's a trip to Teheran scheduled for 11-14 April, I already called a colleague working at the embasyy, to inquire whether trousers were allowed or would lead to immediate stoning, and what I was supposed to wear on my head. Trousers are OK, he told me, if accompanied by about knee-length coat (suede coat, mwahahahaha...) and headgear's compulsory. Which was my perfect motive to buy a scarf as well. I love scarves. Have lots of them, but you never can have enough scarves. Especially as I usually stick to very unobtrusive colours, which I light up with foulards, scarves and the like.
As I already told the colleague with whom I'm making the trip, the real occasion for me to veil my face would be the return flight: Departing at 4 a.m. and arriving in Vienna at 6.10 a.m. Three guesses how I'm going to look... Well, I suppose it's meant to be a lesson about vanity being a sin ;)
That seems to be all right now. Thanks for the comment on The Plot against America, BTW. It was very enlightening, although also a bit frustrating (I mean, I would never have thought that readers actually believed the story to be true!).
