... but I've got a nice large pot of black coffee and, more importantly , now I have cigarettes. Gabriele and I smoked them all last night, and I can assure you that waking after five hours of sleep to a living room full of dirty dishes and no cigarettes isn't on my list of favourites. So I blackmailed myself into cleaning up (dishwasher now doing the second round) by telling me that first I had to restore the place to somewhat normal condition and then I may go round the corner for my much-craved fags.
It worked. Heh.
We really had a lovely evening. As per usual, Gabriele stayed on a little longer to help me clear away the dishes, which of course we didn't, but ended up drinking two more bottles of Shiraz and making rude jokes about our kick-boxing instructor. He's an absolutely gorgeous-looking guy of 42, nothing but muscles (lean, not the bulky kind) and looking very much like the Turkish edition of George Clooney. It's a very strange thing ideed to do training with a man who, at every punch and kick you aim at him correctly (he's wearing protective gear of course) says, 'Yes, hard, harder, good, yes!' Not to mention stretching and the appreciation of how far apart you are able to spread your legs (very far in my case, because I'm very elastic). Add to that a few more glasses of wine than one ought to have drunk, and the rudeness reaches astonishing levels.
I also had one of my more brilliant cooking moments yesterday - if I say so myself ;-)) - because the vegetable curry was the best I'd ever made, the beef fillet was yummy, and I'd made a salad of bean sprouts, iceberg lettuce, sweet corn and young cucumbers (they're fantastic - picked when they're still very small, about the size of gherkins, and they have a marvellous aroma) with a dressing of just yoghurt, mint and basil leaves, salt and pepper. Yum.
Ze boyz were very well-behaved, no jumping on tables or similar gaffes, but also very sociable and absolutely charming. Especially Cornelius, who is a total slut and cuddles up to everybody. Lucius, who always has to play the part of the Supreme Inspector, was mostly sitting on top of the scratching post (I got an even taller one for them, it's 2m high) and observing us.
It's hard to believe that these two have been with me for almost 4 years (Lucius since April, Cornelius since June 2003). I'm very lucky with my boyz, because they're so healthy and very easygoing for being Siamese.
Poor boyz, they'll have to travel to Vienna with me on 6 April, because I'm going on a 3-week holiday and of course taking them with me. They travel with me in the cabin (horrendously expensive, 160 Euros for their return ticket) and I give them a tranquillizer, but they still don't like it, unsurprisingly. This time, however, they'll be returning to a place they know (Daniel, my nephew, is currently occupying my flat but will have to camp out at his dad's place while I'm there) and that's going to make things easier for them.
The weekend will be spent writing and being generally lazy, I suppose. I was bitten by another plot bunny yesterday in the shower (maybe I ought to stop taking showers, but I'm afraid that would deter not only the plot bunnies), and have to see whether the nice little fic currently developing in my head will look as nice once it's been written down. HG/LM again, but very different this time. Plus, I have to do a bit more polishing on the exchange fic. And I'll be going over all the lovely comments left for The Law of Universal Gravitation.
