An addendum and an update
The addendum refers to last night's post. The fic was horrid in every conceivable way a fic can be horrid, but the author managed a lovely, lovely mistake: Instead of betrothal she wrote bethrottlement.
Update on my rather uneventful life (fortunately I like it that way):
My mother's life was saved by an inflamed toenail, which wasn't her own.
Explanation: My parents would have gone to Lisbon tomorrow. After her stint at the hospital she claimed to be well and insisted on going (less because she wanted to but for my father's sake - I won't comment on that). But my father had an inflamed ingrown toenail, which got worse and worse, and so they cancelled the trip. On Monday, my mother went back to hospital, because the fever attacks kept coming every day. And how lucky that she went, because they discovered that the diverticula were so inflamed that there was immediate danger of the intestine rupturing. So now she's on antibiotics, and they'll keep her there for a week, until the inflammation is gone, and they can remove a polyp they also discovered during the examination.
If my father's ingrown toenail hadn't decided to go mad just in time, my mother would probably have died in Lisbon. Fate does indeed have strange ways of governing our lives...
It's spring here in Ankara - last weekend, we had a few really hot days (over 30°), but then there were thunderstorms on Tuesday, and the temperature dropped a bit. Now the weather is lovely, the nights are cool and the days warm. Ze Boyz love it, of course. So do I, but during the week I have little time to enjoy it, except by longingly looking out of the window at an impossibly blue, cloudless sky. But today is Friday, and the weekend shall largely be spent on the north facing balcony, lazing about on my wonderful inflatable mattress.
Repairman due tomorrow, to put up nets on bedroom and guest room windows, and, oh, will sleeping with the bedroom window open be wonderful!
I realized that I had virtually no summer clothes and therefore went clothes shopping on Wednesday (after work, before Turkish lesson) with Gabiele. Very successful shopping trip, I found quite a lot of lovely things. Now I have to find shoes as well, which is always tricky, but I'll give it a try.
shiv5468, if you read this: If there's anything I can do to help you with the - obviously cursed - exchange, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm only slightly preoccupied, because Ankara lies in an earthquake zone. But since I've already uploaded my fic, maybe I'm protected...
