So, what did I do this weekend? It was a bit weak on the productive side, but very, very pleasant.
On Saturday I finished and uploaded the pinch hit fic. I still don't like it and suppose the recipient won't either.
Then I returned to watching the 1st season of House. Am completely addicted to the stuff. Plus - I'm sure hundreds of people have already commented on this, but the urge to do so is overwelming - I was totally taken aback by the similarities between House/Cameron and SSHG. Certain dialogues just screamed SSHG, especially when Cameron got him to go on a date with her. His analysis of her need to be with someone damaged, his statement about being twice her age, unattractive and not even nice... Wow. Absolutely spot-on.
On Sunday, Gabriele, Doris, Tamara and I went to see Pirates III. I have to say that I loved it. I saw the first part, but not the second, and so the difference between 1 and 3 was probably even more notable for me. Some of the images (especially Sparrow in the desert and the crabs moving his ship) were a lot more aesthetically pleasant and surreal than one would usually expect to see in this film genre. Don't know why, but the quality of those images reminded me of The Cell.
We'd intended to go to one of our favourite restaurants for dinner, but it turned out to be closed, so we all went to Doris' place and ordered Chinese takeaway.
Yesterday was spent writing a bit more of Till Death Do Us Join, watching more House, and of course kickboxing. Gabriele and I were alone, because Jasmin and Stephan had only just returned from a short stay in Vienna and were too tired.
Speaking of Vienna: My mum's surgery, originally scheduled for 5 June, has been rescheduled for today or tomorrow, because she was having such a massive fever attack last Thursday that she had to go back to the hospital, and they decided that they'd do the operation at the first possible date. Unfortunately I had already booked and paid my ticket from 6 to 11 June, and I took a cheap, i.e. non-rebookable and non-refundable, one. Pity, because I won't be able to visit her at the hospital unless she has to stay longer.
