Climate and clothes
Nov. 30th, 2008 07:04 amVienna is bloody effing humid. In Ankara, it's more than enough for me to wear a light jacket over a thick jumper, so I'll stay warm. I exchanged the light jacket for a more substantial one yesterday for my outing and thought it'd be sufficient, but boy was I cold. (Note to self: wearing a scarf might have been an excellent idea) And I had too much coffee. The combination of wet cold and too much coffee resulted in shivering for hours after I got home. Only when I cooked dinner did I get really warm. So I'll definitely put on one more layer today before venturing out.
But I bought pretty clothes! Janine has a camera (which is mine, which is why I don't have one, grrr), so I'll take a picture of the cardigan I bought and post it. I got 1 pair of shoes too, and 1 of ankle boots, but they're rather unspectacular, so no picspam necessary. Blowing one thousand Euros on clothes and shoes feels a bit sinful, but then this is something I don't do often. Plus, I subscribe to the Combine-One-Expensive-Piece-With-Cheaper-Clothes philosophy, so I need some more expensive pieces. Ahem. Well, it does sound quite irrefutable, doesn't it?
At breakfast yesterday with my ex-sister-in-law, we were being served by a very nice gay waiter - the kind of super-gay (imagine swaying hips, hands held in a ballerina fashion and that particular brand of friendliness towards women) that makes you wonder whether the whole thing isn't just a show. Daniel my nephew, who used to work at the place, confirmed that the guy was as gay as a maypole, though. What is it about shaved chests with 2 mm of stubble that triggers an irresistible urge to laugh?
I miss ze boyz and hope they don't miss me. But I'll be back in Ankara on Wednesday, and then there's only 2 days left of the working week. Monday 8th is a holiday, i.e. 3-day weekend *cue wave of cheers* - this year, kurban bayrami (most important islamic religious holiday) lasts from 8 to 11 December, i.e. that week will be a very quiet one, and I won't have to be at work at 7.45 a.m. Small blessings are blessings, too, after all.
