Feb. 17th, 2009 08:09 pmI'm beginning - but really only beginning - to suspect that the recurring cold I'm having might be psychosomatic. It wouldn't be surprising. Consider this: Last night, a 4-hour bout of sneezing complete with runny, itchy nose, then 1 hour's break, the another bout that lasted till 1 a.m. Result: I was feeling and looking like death warmed over today. At work, another 2-hour bout. Nobody could possibly be in any doubt about me needing at least a day's sick leave.
And now, with a free day ahead of me, I'm of course tired (small wonder, after 4,5 hours of fitful, interrupted sleep) but the nose is dry, the head has stopped hurting, the throat isn't sore anymore.
I don't feel guilty in the least, but still compelled to admit that the mind's power over the body is indeed a strange and wondrous thing.
