Sleep, where art thou?
Mar. 5th, 2009 09:50 amI didn't get much of the dreamless (as Bertie Wooster would say) last night. First, I talked to Janine for a long time, and it was 1 a.m. when I finally went to bed. That would've meant 4,5 hours of sleep, but I didn't even get that much. There was a power blackout during the night, and my new compact stereo (which btw has mysteriously decided to accept the iPod after all) switched itself on when the power came back. So I woke up at 4.10 to the Freischütz ouverture merrily blasting through the flat. It took me a few seconds to realize what had happened and why, but the adrenaline levels were up, and I didn't get much more sleep after that.
To top it all, there was another blackout when I woke up. Only 10 minutes, but having to slouch to the loo in darkness when I'm completely groggy anyway isn't my favourite way to start the day.
Anyway, today is already Thursday, so the weekend isn't far. Janine will tell me today whether she wants me to come, so we'll see. Going to Vienna only for Saturday and Sunday is more or less a pain in the arse - more so because there aren't any direct flights anymore - but if she needs me I'll of course go.
The weather is strange today, slightly foggy, cold-ish and grey but with a certain hint of unease in the air. I wonder whether BBC's boneheaded insisting on 16° Celsius for tomorrow might be justified after all -- the aforementioned unease might be due to an imminent drastic change. Hopefully that doesn't mean migraine. (I'm such an optimistic, happy bunny today...)
Oh, BTW, I'm sure I didn't mention that Irene, my other best friend, has received her offical letter of transfer to skopje. She'll start on 3 August, less than a month after me, and I'm completely and deliriously happy to have her there.
