Mood swings
Mar. 9th, 2010 06:39 am...are not something I generally am prey to, but yesterday was... well, just awful. Probably caused by 1) morning stress (dearly though I love Janine, a guest who's sleeping late is always a pain in the neck when you have to get up at 5.30), 2) more morning stress due to heavy snowfall and unavailability of taxis, 3) more morning stress because we walked down and my pink-nosed dog-friend kept following us far out of his territory, and I was mortally afraid he might get hit by a car. Add hormones and some other imponderables, and I was in a worse mood than I've been in a loooong time. Not depressed, but ready to slaughter anybody who dared approach me. I did what I think is most reasonable and told my colleagues, apologizingin advance for any snapping that might happen. Mood improved slowly over the day, and in the evening I was ok again. Early night, and today everything's back to normal and in perspective. Hear my sigh of relief. I hate myself when I'm like that.
Detailed ball report will follow as soon as I get the piccies.
And may I say that I'm really not happy about the return of winter? I think we had 50cm of snow yesterday, and it's still there, weighing down the trees and making people wonder whether spring will ever be back. I had a meeting yesterday at 4 p.m. and for once allowed myself to be driven home by Blerim in the embassy car, as there was no way I'd have got a taxi. And since I wasn't just bad-tempered yesterday but also clumsy (the number of things I dropped...), I certainly had no intention of walking through the snow and slush. For today we have a pre-ordered taxi, so everything should be fine transport-wise.
