Sunday was super sports day, first an hour of running with Irene and Ursula, then an hour of tennis. I was a bit exhausted during the last 5 minutes of tennis, but otherwise held up well. The difference between running on the treadmill and running outside is enormous, but the muscles weren't as sore as I'd been dreading.
Dialogue yesterday with the boss:
Boss: You'll have to go to this Red Cross event tomorrow, because I'll be at a dinner.
Me, whining: But I don't really want to! And I'm going to the Dubliner afterwards, for St. Patrick's Day!
B: I know, no problem, you can leave after an hour or so.
Me: But... But I'll have a dress code problem -- I can't go to the president dressed as I would be for the pub!
B, grinning: I'm sure you'll find some compromise rag in your wardrobe.
Compromise rag, indeed. (For German speakers: Kompromissfetzen). Sometimes he really cracks me up.
Yesterday after leaving early from a rather boring reception, I roamed the shopping centre a bit and came home with a lovely orange scarf and a pretty mirror for my bedroom. I saw it in the scarf shop, which is a very small place that also sells jewellery and other things, and asked whether it was for sale. Luckily it was.
My tennis teacher got pregnant. I'll call her today, so as to learn whether she can play during the first months of her pregnancy. If not, I hope her husband will be able to fit me in. Or she'll have to recommend somebody. Branko, her husband, with whom I played on Sunday, told me, and they're very happy. I even had the presence of mind to hug him instead of saying, And what about my lessons? *snorts*
And, finally: I'll never understand why a cat, who spends the whole night sleeping not only in my bed but on top of me, is so desperate to get on my lap while I'm sitting here and drinking my tea. This Cornelius, he really is a clinger. Sometimes Lucius jumps up, too, and then I have to reach around two cats in order to get to my cup and to the mouse.
