The strangeness, and the shoppingness
Mar. 23rd, 2010 06:55 am"Home" -- for me, that's the place where I live and work, where my cats and my books etc. are. Skopje is definitely home. Therefore coming back to Vienna always feels very strange, because it used to be my home, and I lived here for 5/6 of my life, and will return in a few years. Right now, though, I'm something of a tourist here, and that's weird. I know the city, but on the other hand it changes as fast as cities are wont to do, and so there are all those little moments when I realize that something I expected to be there isn't. And the tram routes are different. Weird, weird, weird.
I managed to see my mother twice; she's as well as circumstances will allow (the circumstances being her age of 81, a bad spine, rheumatism, and being married to my father and having to take care of a house that is much too big for her. No cleaner, of course, don't ask me why)
Went running on Saturday and Sunday morning, yesterday to the gym with Daniel, today I'll go running again, with the new shoes I bought yesterday. I also bought tennis shoes and sportswear. Re. shoes and clothes I wasn't as good as I should have been, but much better than I might have been. I also met some friends, will spend the better part of today with Klaus, had a wonderful time with Daniel, a few good talks with Janine, met brother and ex-sister-in-law.
Busy, busy days, but I'm getting enough sleep, and so that's not exhausting at all.
And now I'm already looking forward to going home! The weather is nicer here than in Skopje, but who cares when in Skopje there are ze boyz, and my everyday life, and generally things to look forward to.
OK, going to brave the Ringstraße one last time now. Keep your fingers crossed that the new shoeses don't give me blisters.
ETA: Wow. Just... wow. Not only do the new shoes not give me blisters, they make me feel as if my feet had wings. Still, no half-marathon yet this year. The Ringstraße (5,2 km) still takes me all of 45 min, and I have to walk 50 m twice or three times. Maybe next year, with the proper training...
