Christmas has come early :-)

Today's load contained Ashes2Ashes season 3 -- that one I remembered and was avidly expecting -- but also two different versions of Jane Eyre (one featuring Timothy Dalton. YUM!), the first two seasons of 'Allo 'Allo, Macbeth with Judi Dench and Ian Mc Kellen, and a few other gems. Their arrival triggered the (probably suppressed) memory of falling prey to another amazon sale; when a DVD costs less than € 4 (or 3 pounds as it was) I just can't resist.
Since the weekend will be as hot as hell -- 40° on both Saturday and Sunday -- and staying home at least for part of the day will be as wise as it'll be necessary, one simply can't have enough DVDs. Especially as one never knows which mood one will be in. Might be Macbeth, or Jane Eyre, or 'Allo 'Allo. But I'm pretty sure it's going to be A2A.
And in between visually devouring my new treasures, there will hopefully be swimming, if, that is, the new pool is any good. Good as in "acceptably clean and of not-too-modest proportions".
Oh, and I'll have another dancing lesson tomorrow, still at the embassy, but that's ok because at least I can be sure there's a working a/c.
Next week will be a dire affair insofar as Vesna, the Embassy's guardian angel, will be on holiday, and her sister and my very own guardian angel Slavica will be stepping in for her. Which, of course, means that my flat won't be cleaned, and ze boyz will be obnoxiously clingy (especially Cornelius), what with being deprived of the company of their Deputy Mother Goddess. During the Year of Being Excessively Pampered by Slavica, I've grown completely unused to the kind of strategic planning you have to undertake if 1) you're too lazy to do your own ironing and 2) your stuff is being ironed only once a week. It's going to be an almost new experience.
Anyway, since Vesna won't be the only one to be on leave, but Jasna the Queen of Pain will also be away on a 2-week holiday (YAYYYY!!), and my darling Ana will return on Monday from hers, I'll be quite happy.
Boss obviously in hermit-y mood today, not bad-tempered, just wanting to be left alone -- fortunately we have by now established a routine: if he doesn't come into my office for a good-morning chat but goes straight up to his sanctissimum, I just leave him be, unless there's something really urgent we have to discuss in person. And when he feels like talking again, he calls or comes down. Today he called, and we spent a few minutes throwing absolutely hair-raising puns at each other before he returned to the cumbersome procedure of giving birth to a report.
Tennis at 5. Keep your fingers crossed for me to survive -- it's 38° outside and unbearably stuffy. Chances for a thunderstorm later on seem reasonably good, but that was what I thought yesterday, and pfffffft, nothing. Clouds just went away, the temperature remained high, and there was no wind. Boyz are still shedding accordingly, all woolly undercoat, and I'm secretly wondering at their still having any fur left.
