Do you know that feeling...
Sep. 8th, 2010 09:43 am...when you meet somebody, and you talk and talk, and the personal histories, background etc. are so similar that the person might be your accidentally lost sibling?
The appointment yesterday a 10 was private rather than work-related -- Alexandra, whom I already knew (we met in June, and then we had a girls' night out together with Anita, the trade delegate) is Austrian, and she works for an Austrian company, but we didn't have any problems to discuss. It was just coffee and a chat, because we hadn't seen each otehr since the end of July.
She's 5 years younger than I, i.e. from the same age group, and she's also Viennese. She's also the kind of person I feel immediately drawn to -- when we had our dinner with Anita, I'd already discovered that she's an animal lover and a voracious reader.
Yesterday was so fun though, because whenever one of us told something about herself, the other said, Oh yes, been there, done that, I understand you completely. Whether men, therapy, food, work, animals, books, jokes, self-awareness or movies, it was like that. Amazing. Sometimes I truly regret that I am not, never have been, never will be and absolutely don't want to be a lesbian. Then again, having a relationship with somebody so much like oneself that it's like having a relationship with one's alter ego, wouldn't be a good thing anyway -- boring, I think, and ultimately unsatisfying. Anyway, what doesn't work for relationships often works very well for friendships, and so I'm very glad to have found a potential new friend.
In the spirit of "video meliora et deteriora sequor", I made the mistake of having apple strudel with my coffee. Having coffee and something sweet during the day results in low blood sugar a few hours later, and I hate that feeling of shaky queasiness. So I didn't go to the gym as planned, but home, and after a piece of bread with cheese and three teaspoons of capers (yes, salt's the medicine) I was feeling well enough to go for a brisk walk with Irene.
Question to the f-list: is there such a thing as a lipstick search website? Explanation: if I'm very fond of a particular lipstick, and they discontinue its production, I'd like to have a similar one. So it would be a great thing if there was a website, where you just have to type in the brand and colour code, and it gives you the closest match. Soembody must've had that idea, right?
