Weekend varia et miscellanea
Sep. 12th, 2010 07:00 amIt's always nice to get a friend addicted to something one loves -- Irene and I are almost finished with Ashes to Ashes season 2. Knowing how it all ends, re-watching it is almost as good as watching it for the first time. "A brief word about police brutality: lots of it." Ah, Gene, you so rock my socks.
We went to the gym yesterday and had lunch afterwards at one of the nice Italian places. I had roast beef on rucola. YUM! I don't eat lots of meat, but sometimes I get ravenously carnivorous, and that was such a moment.
Then I bought two lovely pairs of shoes. Had promised myself not to buy suede shoes, but caved in at the sight of a grey-black pair with wing tips and ankle strap. Lovely! The other pair are simple black pumps with a four-inch-almost-stiletto heel but since both pairs are from Geox, they're incredibly comfy despite the high heels.
Once home, I meant to nap for about 30 minutes and then get started with the lasagna we were going to have for dinner. Woke up at 5, i.e. two hours later. So we only ate at 7.30, but boy was it worth the wait. I don't make lasagna too often, maybe twice or three times a year, but I do like it a lot. It's one of the dishes I never eat at a restaurant because I know it's much better when I make it. There's lots of it left; the bigger part will go to Slavica, who always likes to try what I cook.
More A2A after the lasagna, and believe it or not, the prolonged afternoon nap notwithstanding, I slept another 8 hours.
Today we'll climb the Vodno -- weather is cool and a bit grey, i.e. ideal for hiking.
Just had a look at the forecast for next week. More fantastic late summer weather with temperatures between 25 and 30°. Wow. Living in the south does indeed have its benefits.
