Holy Minaret, Batman! Istanbul???
Oct. 26th, 2010 06:32 amBad news first. It seems boss will have to go to Istanbul. He could decline, but that would mean going back to Vienna next year, and that would be even worse. So Istanbul it is, obviously. ASAP, obviously, i.e. before the end of this year.
It hasn't really sunk in so far, and I'm more sorry for him than for myself, or, well, maybe not. Probably equally sorry for the two of us.
May those bastards in Vienna get as many diseases as a human being can possibly deal with and not die immediately but live at least 20 years.
Worst case scenario: they send the successor ASAP, and he or she is a complete arsehole.
Best possible scenario: he arrives ASAP and is single and Mr Right (hear my hollow laughter)
Medium bad scenario: successor arrives next summer and is an arsehole, but after half a year of being chargée d'affaires I'm so firmly in the saddle he or she can't do a thing.
Rather good scenario: half a year of being chargée d'affaires, and a nice successor.
But they're breaking up the Dynamic Duo, and it makes me both angry and sad.
I've never seen boss less motivated/ more frustrated.
Bugger them to hell and back.
After just getting over a bout of pneumonia, Janine has obviously caught another virus, poor thing. Today's flight to Vienna was booked to the last seat, so she'll have to go tomorrow as planned. I hope she won't get any worse till then -- up till now it's just a horribly sore throat and aching joints. Since I was rather busy yesterday, Irene made risotto for her and kept her company in the evening.
Of course Janine was cranky as hell when I got home, and given the news I'd got re. boss I wasn't in the best of moods either, so I went to bed shortly after 10, in order to avoid any possible discord. So at least I got 7hrs of uninterrupted sleep. Counting my blessings here. The fingers of one hand are more than enough.
All this is rather going to take the fun out of tonight's reception, I'm afraid. Imagine how inclined boss will be to sing the praise of the Republic of Austria, given how badly said republic is screwing him over.
BUGGER again, merely to end this post on an appropriate note.
