Jingle bells
Dec. 24th, 2010 10:44 am..though the only jingling bells so far were the ones on the new toy Lola Stola got today. Destucto-Cat has already torn off most of the feathers. I have one more of those, though, and ordered some cat toys via internet. She gets through them at an alarming rate, because she insists on killing them very thoroughly once she catches them.
As most of you know by now, I'm not especially keen on Christmas-y Christmases, and this years' holidays will be just as I like them.
Today I'm going to spend the late afternoon/ early evening at Petra&Georg's place, tomorrow will be dedicated to sports and Lola, and later there'll be dinner with Pinar, and the agenda for the 26th says Lola, Tennis, Boxing Day party at UK colleague's place, Lola.
Not bad, all things considered.
Regular duty resumes on Monday.
In order to be able to look after Lola properly, but without feeling that I'm skiving off work, I agreed with boss to take 2 days' leave, i.e. 16 hrs which will be equally distributed over the twelve working days which are also Lola-days. So I'll leave home at the usual hour, but will go to visit Lola and arrive at work about one hour late. Plus, I have to take her to the vet on the 30th, for the second part of her vaccinations.
The second daily Lola-visit is scheduled for either after work, or after tennis/ after gym. Weekends are unproblematic anyway, and the 6th is a holiday, so I should be able to spend enough time with her. *snuggles Lola* And of course ze boyz won't be neglected either.
Slavica's dental work is finished, and the dentist has done a sterling job. It's good to see her so happy with her new teeth. She's smiling -- partly from joy, partly to show off the pearly treasures -- all the time.
Today she brought me a Christmas present, and I almost cried, because it was so thoughtful. She does of course know my wardrobe, accessories etc. inside out and therefore noticed that I have a black, but not a brown evening purse. So she gave me a lovely brown clutch.
And she's already doing the Xmas baking... Now there's strudel with a poppy filling in my fridge, and something sinfully delicious made of dried figs, dates, nuts and chocolate. I'll take some to Petra&Georg today, because such is the quality of Slavica's baking that I wouldn't really trust myself not to eat it all in one go.
Mood and heart much better today. I'm still not quite sure whether it wouldn't have been better, had Mr H left yesterday for good, but since it's not something I can influence, I'll just try and see the positive side of things, i.e. that yesterday's sadness has passed. It will probably return once he really leaves, but maybe it'll be different, or it won't be so bad (who knows, he might pull some other stunt in the meantime that makes me hate him). For now, I'm looking forward to a pleasant weekend and not thinking much further.
To all of you who celebrate Christmas, I wish a stress-free, happy holiday that goes just the way you want it to.
To all the others, a pleasant, relaxing weekend!
*blows kisses*
