"Fun" being in the eye of the beholder, of course, since there's doubtlessly a lot of people who wouldn't agree with my definition.

But first things first: (and why does there have to be massive hissing, when I was just about to write that the Trio Infernal is getting on better and better?) The problem is -- and will be for a while, if it ever stops -- that Lola is a complete pain in the arse in the early morning. OTOH, 95% of the mutual Lucius-and-Lola-chasing seems to be playful now. OK, I just locked Lola into her room, because things were getting a bit out of hand. Drat those critters. Still, most of the time things do *not* escalate, so I'm still wildly optimistic as to further improvement. (Now she's sitting on the balcony, trying to hypnotize ze boyz into coming to the door and exchanging feline insults) So let's see whether I'll leave the trio together during tennis. I'll only be playing at 11, so there'll be enough time to gauge the situation after I let her out of prison after an hour.
*rolls eyes*

Last week was really, really busy, and I wrote more reports than I usually do in a month. If it hadn't been for meeting the military attaché, it would have been even better. I managed to keep yesterday's meeting very short, though, because he hasn't got much to say, and I'm not afraid of silences, during which I merely smile frostily and convey the impression of feeling extremely comfortable.

In other news, I think Alexandra is having a bit of a problem. She has taken in the stray (the one who was pregnant and would have died without the operation, because she was carrying four dead kittens) but gone away for the weekend all the same. Had Irene not consented to look after the cat during the weekend, it would've gone back to the vet till Monday. Alexandra said she was only going to keep her until she finds a place for her, but only god knows when that's going to happen. And no, I'm not going to look after the cat, even though she's really very sweet.
So we have the same situation again -- A. takes in a cat, feels like the world's most wonderful animal saver, and lo and behold, she still gets to do what she wants, because somebody else looks after the animal.
Something else that jarred quite a bit: on Thursday, when we went out to have steak (Irene came, too, which was when caring for the cat was foisted upon her), Alexandra told us happily that today she'll be attending a friend's 40th birthday party, which she has helped prepare. Hello? Didn't you write me an email in which you solemnly promised you'd be in Skopje from 9 - 19 May???
I'm beginning to get rather angry, I must say. Add to that -- and please dont misunderstand me, there's no judgement implied here -- that she's taking antidepressants and on Thursday had clearly taken more than was good for her, and you'll understand that I'm less than happy with the situation. If things continue like that... But I'm not going to bond with the stray, and I'm not going to look after her let alone offer to do so. Enough is enough. Not that I'm able to switch off the worries, but fortunately my instincts of self-preservation are developed well enough for me to draw the line when it's necessary, consequences be damned.

Enough whining. Now I'll prepare a cup of coffee and call my mum. Then shower, and after that Lola will be allowed back into society again, ot that I expect her to show any signs of repentance ;-)

Also: did you hear that bit of news about the Iranian woman, who was allowed to pour acid ino the eyes of a man who attacked her with acid? It makes me feel nauseous, and the fact that the man will be anaesthetized doesn't really help. Assertions that Islam is really a peaceful religion don't seem overly credible now.
