...and to pretend I was sick or having a headache or something, so I could have a nice lie-in and arrive at work around 11, and what happened? Our electronic locking system failed yesterday in the late afternoon, which means that I had to be here at the usual time, in order to let people enter the Embassy via my front garden door.
Bummer.
Plans for shoppingness yesterday between hairdresser and lunch fell through as well, because things took so long at the hairdresser's that I barely made it to lunch in time. At least I had the consolation of returning from lunch for all of 30 minutes before I had to change and leave for tennis. The fact that my stomach somehow didn't like the lunch, however, made for major discomfort during tennis. Never try to play when you're feeling as if your lunch was climbing up your oesophagus. Yech.
But I made a big batch of delicious pumpkin soup for dinner and watched more Six Feet Under.

Today shall see a new attemtp at minor wickedness, i.e. I'll try to get some shopping done before lunch with my Slovenian colleague. Hopefully there won't be any punishment like yesterday's, especially as we're going to eat at the same place.

On a side note, I want the person or persons who invented the new accounting programme to
1) die a slow and painful death
2) go to hell
3) have use their own programme 24/7 till doomsday
4) get their entries rejected by the Federal Accounting Agency even though they're correct and it's just the morons at FAA who can't read properly.
Just to give you an idea: With the old programme, you merely needed to click a button in order to see the sums you ought to have cash and in the bank at the end of the working day.
With the new one, you have to: do a search of three different accounts with multiple complex filtering operations, write the results down by hand (!!!!!), open the day's last entry and add the sums by hand.
It's hair-raising, that's what is is, also because this programme is horrendously expensive, so much so that they keep the number of user licenses down to a minimum.
Ach well. It can't be helped, so it's grit your teeth and get on with it.

And finally, a question of the metaphysical kind: Why is it impossible to find nice earrings with red rhinestones?
