When was the last time I spent an entire day writing, not doing anything else? Must've been Ankara, i.e. three years ago, give or take a couple months.
And yesterday. 8.000 words in one day.
I'd consigned no less than five first drafts for the LMHG fic -- varying in length between 500 and 10.000 words -- to the virtual dustbin. I hate asking for extensions, but better that than admitting defeat and dropping out. The mods graciously gave me till April 7. By the time I ought to have sent it off, I had 300 words. Got another extension -- wonderfully generous mods! -- and finished the thing yesterday, in one fell swoop.
In a way I'm proud of it -- less because it's so fantastically well written, than because I proved to myself that I can still write to a deadline (never a problem in the past, but obviously a bit of a problem now) and deliver something acceptable. The recipient would have deserved something better, and I'd really have liked to give it to her but... Oh, well. There'll be other exchanges, hopefully with better time management on my side.
Today there will be exercise, though; the mind is satisfied, but the body wants to move. Tennis and Pilates ought to do the trick, I guess.
Another cup of coffee now. And then maybe another.
I love long weekends, merely to state the obvious.
