Decisions. And wibbling (in a good way)
I just finished writing up my SSHG exchange prompts. And I like them. Can't wait to post them and read the other participants' prompts, and then there shall be even more wibbling until the mods send them out.
Re decisions: I called my ministry on Friday and asked for a one-year extension of my stay here. As expected, they were unable to give an answer, because it's still too early, but will be taking it into consideration, which is ok.
If they don't give me the extension I'll have to think really, really hard: do I want to apply for Vilnius -- because I'm more or less sure that I'll get it if I apply, i.e.no taking it back -- or do I want to go back to Vienna.
The one job I've always wanted at the ministry will become available next year, and my chances of getting it aren't too bad. Not super-strong but good.
Vilnius, OTOH, would mean four years of nice salary (more or less like here), a leisurely life in a beautiful city, learning a new language... The only strong reservation I have re. Vilnius are the long, dark winters. Can I cope with them?
It won't be an easy decision to make, if I have to make it.
Not much else to report -- weekend was good in a totally non-sensational way: critters are happy with the weather and open doors and windows (and how wonderful their fur smells when they're out in the fresh air!), I didn't do anything overly productive but enjoyed -- much like the critters -- the weather, outdoors pursuits and laziness.
And, once more with feeling: YAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY! EXCHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
