I'm going to answer comments once I've become remotely human, which will probably be tomorrow.
*yawns*
US Open men's final started after 10 p.m. our time yesterday; I watched the first set, slept through no. 2 and 3, and watched 4 and 5. This means that I got a bit more than two hours of sleep.
Unfortunately I couldn't fall asleep after the match was over -- not due to overexcitement or anything, just couldn't sleep -- and got about 45 minutes of shuteye between 4.30 and 5.15 a.m., which brings the grand total up to three hours.
Not complaining, well not much, because it was totally worth it.

Now, of course, I'm a zombie and can't think of anything to say except *zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz*
Have some cat picspam instead:

First, the Face of Innocence (Cornelius)

...because I finally bought a 1TB external harddrive today and am currently backing up my laptop.
It's been an ongoing "Oh, I really should" for a couple of years, but what made me do it now was the horrendous paranoia re. my exchange fic -- it's more or less ready to send off, and what would I do if I was left with only a 2-months-old version I'd have to re-edit *again*?
*cringes*
Terrible, haunting, execrable thought.
But no more of it :-)

I keep wondering when tiredness will strike again -- for now I seem to have overcome it by being lazy, reading and giving food to the bunch of street cats living on the building site across from my building.
I've decided that rationality is sometimes overrated: yes, it's not a very good idea to feed street cats on a regular basis, because they get used to it and unlearn to look out for their own food. OTOH, 1) their life expectation isn't more than 3, maybe 4 years, 2) who says that there won't be somebody to feed them even after I'm gone, 3) they can maybe find food, but after 16 weeks of drought there's no bloody way they can find water, and 4) it may be egoistic, but I feel so much better when I watch them eat, and I'm absolutely sure they, too, feel much better when they eat, so where's the point in not giving them food and water?
Besides, if Lola is any indication, even a fat, domesticated cat doesn't forget how to hunt merely because it's being given food, and so I'm fairly confident that this troupe will find ways to survive even once I don't feed them anymore. And if they starve, they'll at least have lived relatively happy, free cat lives while the going was good.
