Nice things
Jan. 23rd, 2013 11:14 amApart from Federer's naked torso, that is.
I had a feeling as if there had to be some money on my Macedonian bank account -- it's an account that's only used for the VAT returns we lucky diplomats get. And lo and behold, there were € 600. A not entirely unexpected but nice surprise.
Lucius continues to be ok -- I've already asked
gypaetusfor telltale signs of bladder and/or kidney problems and will be watching out for them; you never know, his urinal tract might be more susceptible to cold than his nose and throat.
Being the conscientious person I am, I made an appointment next week with the cardiologist, so we can check the old heart to see if there's any problem, or if the racing pulse was really just a side effect of the rabies immunization. I certaily hope for the latter. He also ordered a blood test to be done before, including thyroid hormones, so if there's anything to be found he'll find it.
Today is my last working day for this week, because I took Thursday and Friday off. As usual, I haven't planned anything grand, but will have wonderfully slow, lazy mornings, and sports, and a bit of cooking. Speaking of cooking: I went to the organic food shop yesterday and bought a ready-made, gluten-free bread mix; you only have to add water, stir, and put it in the oven in the cardboard mould it comes in. Very curious to taste the result. I also got some of their fantastic goat feta, and some gluten-free muffins.
And, speaking of yesterday's -- pretty modest -- shopping outing, I went to Mango and got a pair of jeans. While not overly remarkable in and of it itself, the acquisition made me happy, because I can now wear size 40 jeans by Mango. Anybody who knows how, let's be friendly and say sparingly, they cut their jeans will understand that I felt pretty jubilant. I'll have to shorten them of course, but that's about an hour's work (since I'm doing it by hand). The jeans were absolutely necessary, because both pairs I have keep sliding off me. (Yes, the subtext is GLOATING) ;-)
In definitely TMI news:
( Feel free to skip )
