...and it turns out that there isn't anything.
At least I've recovered from Friday's heartbreak blues, which is positive.
Some time last week I started scribbling background notes for my Lucius Big Bang fic -- nothing overly exciting right now, but I need to get the little wheels oiled and going.
What else have I been doing? Nothing much, really. Cooking, on Saturday (bacon-and-cheese wrapped pork medaillons with ratatouille), and sports of course, and dedicating an incongruous amount of time and angst to the question whether it's better -- when the time comes, i.e. end of September -- first to move the cats to Vienna, or the household. I'm still unsure.
I've also started on a mood-improving, self-educational project:
I'm more or less antisocial in the morning, no matter when I get up. Sometimes my mood is downright foul, which leaves me with two options: take it out on somebody (NO!) or keep it bottled up inside (yes, but it's still awful). I have, however, found out recently that the mood improves slightly if I have fewer things to do in the morning. So I've begun to do whatever can be done the day before on the day before, and lo and behold, it works. If the sports bag is packed, the handbag empty and put away (in case I have to change it), the laundry put in the machine so I merely have to switch it on, etc. etc., I feel loads better. So that's what I'm trying to do now every day.
Also, yesterday and today I've had actual work to do at work. There still is a bit of work I ought to do but can't be arsed to -- not urgent, but must be done before I leave -- but right now procrastination has been brought down to tolerable levels. Also, I'm quite happy about the ministry having authorized an increase of working hours for my three visa girls -- since the beginning of 2010 they've been working 85 and 50% respectively, and now they're at 100 and 75%. It was a necessary measure, because we're really very busy with visas and residence permits for applicants from Kosovo. The icing on the cake, however, is that, whenever Kosovo is granted visa liberalization, we'll have to cut back again -- but not from 85 and 50%. This means that, hopefully, we (or rather the Embassy, since I won't be here) will be able to keep them all. Fortunately visa liberalization for Kosovo is still a long way away -- I'd say somewhere between two and five years -- but even so, it's reassuring to know that nobody will have to lose their job.
Case Histories Season 3 has dispatched -- my crystal ball tells me that there shall be Jason Isaacs ogling the weekend after next :-)
