I still don't have it in writing, but since they asked me on the phone and I had to confirm by email, I suppose the date of October,1, for stating to work in Vienna will hold.
I got the information yesterday afternoon, and promptly became pronouncedly antisocial.
So I cancelled pilates, just went to the gym for a workout, and then retired home for comfort food and planning. I'm feeling a lot better today, although I woke up at 3 a.m.
The Master Plan is as follows:
Holiday from September 12 - 30.
Go to Vienna with cats on the 12th, either overnight or during the day, depending on temperature and weather.
Stay in Vienna with Critters til the 16th or 17th, so they can adapt to their new flat.
Go back to Skopje on the late flight either on the 16th or 17th, because packing day will be either the 17th or 18th. Packing, then back to Vienna the next day.
I'm in the process of solving the only logistical problem, i.e. the bed. Since I'll be arriving in Vienna before my stuff does, the bed and mattress will have to be bought there. The best and most logical solution would be for the company that is now coordinating the building work at my place to go and buy both bed and mattress, deliver them and put the bed together. I've already written them an email asking whether that's possible -- whatever they charge will surely be cheaper than a flight to Vienna, and certainly less stressful than buying on the internet and then mastering the logistics of delivery and putting-together.
As for pillows, duvet etc. there's no need to worry, because I'll take those to Vienna by car (luckily I have more than one set) as well as a few pots, a bit of tableware, cutlery etc.
So, if the company is able and willing, the whole operation should run pretty smoothly.
Gah.
I don't know who came up with the stupid saying that money doesn't make you happy. I'm certainly feeling much happier in the knowledge that a few hundred Euros for the extra flight ticket and for having the bed bought won't hurt me.
Now I merely have to repeat telling myself that the cats will get to Vienna without a problem, and then I might attain a state of zen calmness.
*flails*
Fortunately I love making plans. What got me into shut-down mode yesterday was merely the sudden certainty and inevitability. But by now I know how to handle myself, and thus got through it ok.
ETA: YES!! *punches air* The company is going to buy the bed and put it together! (And they'll buy a big carpet, too, because that's pretty heavy) OMGOMGOMG it looks as if things were working out!
