Travel plans
Sep. 3rd, 2013 11:03 amBooked hotel in Vienna for driver.
Had talk this morning with driver re. time of departure etc. -- we'll leave around 5 p.m. on September, 12. About one hour to he Macedonian-Serbian border, then another five to seven (depending on weather, traffic etc.) to the Serbian-Hungarian border, from there two or three to Vienna. So, maximum 11, minimum 9.
There's no way Rambo will be asleep till we cross the Hungarian border, even if I give him more of the sedative, so I'll just put his travel container in the space between the back and front seats and put a big bag on top. If he meows, it'll be coming from the same direction as all the other meows, and hiding in plain sight is always the safest method. Besides, there's going to be a lot of luggage, so using that space for storing luggage won't seem strange.
Driver will receive a very nice sum for the trip -- he spends two full days in Vienna, and I don't want him to bankrupt himself merely because he needs to eat and drink. Also, I'm paying for his hotel. (I know it seems a bit extravagant, but having a safe, skilled driver is more or less priceless to me. And I really like him)
I really ought to make a packing list for the trip. Only, I hate making packing lists, and I scarcely ever forget anything. OTOH, this time it's going to be disparate objects like Rambo's basket and blanket (the stuffed tiger goes into his travel container), a carpet, cats' dishes for food and water, 1l goat milk for Rambo...
This is why I decided to leave in the late afternoon -- enough time for preparation, plus Snezana will be coming for a last massage, which may go some way towards helping me cope with the long drive.
God, how I wish this was already over. Experience, however, tells me that this sort of thing, i.e. the ones you keep dreading and worrying about for weeks, do seem mercifully short once they actually happen.
Good vibes very, very welcome!
