Just an ordinary weekend
Jan. 30th, 2005 09:17 amIt's freezing cold outside, snow and sunshine and wintery glory galore. On days like this, I seriously think about buying myself a new skiing equipment. Then of course, rational thought steps in, telling me that it's totally nonsensical to spend hundreds of Euros when the occasions for actually using the stuff are going to be very, very scarce.
The problem is, you can of course hire the whole outfit, but I recently saw this rather disheartening report on TV, about the micro-biotopes living in hired ski boots. So I won't make use of that possibility. Never.
Anyway, I had 2 hours of workout yesterday, together with Klaus, and then we went home to my place and had a rather lavish brunch, followed by listening to 'Tannhaeuser' (the Sinopoli recording, for my music-loving friends).
Today, another session at the gym (probably at noon), and the afternoon shall be dedicated to studying French with my nephew Daniel.
shiv, if you're reading this, wouldn't it be preferable if I mailed you our common brainchild? Just confirm that the email address on your profile page is the right one, and I'll go ahead.
Next week is likely to be hellishly busy, since half of the department is on holiday - one of the boss's many hair-raising decisons, as he keeps forgetting who has already got authorization to go on holiday. So people of course book their tickets etc., and then it turns out that 5 people will be gone and none of them is willing to reschedule. Lovely.
As to the feline part of my life, Cornelius has discovered the joys of having his fur brushed. It's really necessary, because his fur is as thick as a bear's, and in spite of handsful of hair coming out, he still looks spectacularly furry. Anyway, I've never seen anything like the ecstasy he shows during those brushing sessions. Not even on baroque paintings of spiritual unions, which is saying a lot.
And now I have to go and thoroughly clean my teeth. I made tabouleh salad last night, which is so good I could eat tons of it, but there's onion in it, so that even thorough teeth-cleaning in the evening doesn't help much. (When the cats smell my breath and start purring, I know there's something dramatically wrong)
