Just a quick wave...
Jul. 14th, 2007 07:28 am... to the flist.
New colleague Iris) is arriving today, and Gabriele and I are going to pick her up at the airport. I've invited her for dinner tonight, together with Gabriele, Jasmin and Stephan, so I'll be busy cooking today.
We had another heat wave this week, which followed the usual pattern: Unbearable by Thursday (40°), a bit less so on Friday, and then last night the wind changed, and there was RAIN!! And thunderstorm!!! And now the sky is overcast, the air is moist and cool and I'm in heaven. Slept like a baby.
I was so happy to discover that
ozratbag2had written my gift, because I like her and think she's a wonderful author, but would never have guessed it was her. Thanks, my dear!!
When
shiv5468posted her little poll, being identified as the author of Bermuda by so many made me laugh. I suppose I couldn't disguise my writing style if my life depended on it. Not that I tried to. Bermuda was the first story I wrote after the long, long hiatus (more than 3 years) and I wasn't even sure I had a writing style anymore. A big THANK YOU to shiv for assigning me a threesome prompt!
And I guess I don't hate my pinch hit story, With Friends Like This, so much anymore, since people seemed to like it.
OK, I think 'll be off to the kitchen. The air is still so cool, it's really the best time to make panna cotta, which is lovely but produces lots of steam - after all, you've got to reduce 1 litre of cream to less than half that amount. No strawberries at this time of year, but I'm sure it'll taste nice accompanied by marinated peaches.
Ze boyz like the temperature too - they're racing all over the place, exceeding the speed limits. I shall have to hand out speed tickets, if they continue like this.
