But first things first:

Happy Birthday, [personal profile] novin_ha!!!

As foreseen, last night was long and well irrigated. But we had lots of fun, watching Love and Death, and I'd prepared an excellent (if I say so myself) cauliflower-and-broccoli cream soup and an equally excellent chickpea-tomato-zucchini salad. Of course I went to bed after 1 a.m. and had to get up at 5.30.
These really are the times when I'm grateful for cutting edge cosmetics technology. The La Prairie Gods hath created a cleansing mask and a hydrating caviar mask, and after using both I was at least able to look in the mirror without screams of pain and horror.

Speaking of cosmetics: [profile] shiv5468, if I remember correctly, you were unhappy about Clinique having cancelled one of their products. Tell me what it is, so I can look it up at the Ankara duty free shop - they usually have stocks when a product is long gone from the European market.

Another prayer of thanks goes to the deities of Carrefour internet order services: I used it the first time yesterday, and they delivered punctually, the order was complete apart from a few things they just didn't have (aubergines, can you imagine??? Here???) and I don't have to schlepp fruit juice, potatoes, detergent and other such things that make grocery shopping a chore rather than a pleasure. From now on, I'll just daintily shop for small, light things and leave the lugging around to the Carrefour thugs.

Repairman showed up to and put up lamp shades. I'll never stop being surprised at how cheap work is here in Turkey: He brought the sockets and the thingies by which you hang the shades from the ceiling (not cable, but a rigid plastic bit), and he came to my place, and he worked for 30 minutes, and what did I have to pay? 25 YTL all in all, i.e. ~ €14. Back in Vienna, you'd lay off € 50 merely for the trip back and forth, plus material, plus at least € 30 for half an hour of work.
In many ways, it's a good place to live in. If you can cope with, e.g. a giant supermarket entirely devoid of tinned chickpeas, weeks on end without soy milk and Nescafé Cappuccino etc.etc.

I'm afraid there won't be much writingness tonight, because I'm so tired already I could fall asleep at my desk. But let's see, maybe I'll be all bright and bushy-tailed tonight. Ha, ha. And pigs fly. *toddles off to see whether piglet can maybe fly*
