I keep thinking that today is Sunday
Dec. 13th, 2008 07:01 pmThat's what happens when the usual rhythm of 5 days work - 2 days off is interrupted. Not that I complain, really I don't. But today is... strange. It's only 7 p.m. now, but I feel as if it was at least midnight. I'm not tired, it's just the internal clock that seems to have decided to play its own game.
But it's been a good day so far.
They had fresh coriander at the supermarket, which is something of a miracle. I took what they had, i.e. 4 packets. 3 went straight into the freezer, and one was used for vegetable curry, since I happened to have the right ingredients at home. I also made a very lovely mushroom sauce, which can be eaten on pasta, on toast or, if I feel very hedonistic, with bread dumplings.
Part of today's strangeness probably also owed to me having watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I've had the DVD for ages but never felt quite like watching it. Today I did, and I loved the movie. I'm not usually a fan of Jim Carrey, but he's absolutely brilliant in that movie. The dreamlike, kafka-esque quality of it all is marvellous. The whole Have-your-memories-erased-so-you'l-be-happy-again thing is chilling, and the translation of the erasing into images works to perfection. It's the kind of film I probably won't watch very often, but which leaves a very powerful impression.
(Speaking of re-watching films: due to a bad case of Jason-Isaacs-fangirl-relapse last night, I had to re-watch The Patriot. I think I could replay 'Oh, but we're not going to hold him. We're going to hang him.' a thousand times. Cured for now, though.)
Oh, and there's something I wanted to tell
shiv5468 : Given your admiration of Ralph Fiennes's back line (which I wholeheartedly share), you ought to watch The End of the Affair. You'll get your fill of back line, and nekkid too! And it's not a bad movie either.
