I still can't believe that I *actually went* to the dentist.
But I did, and he did the root canal, and it wasn't too bad.
He's one of those merciful dentists who anaesthetize the gums before even giving you the shot. With complete numbness and Wagner filling my head, the whole process felt rather distant, even the drilling - it's funny, because with those earplugs that block out noise from outside, the drilling seems to come from inside the head. Still, the horrible giant-mosquito noise isn't there, and that obviously makes all the difference.
I also got the quote: € 2000 for everything, i.e. root canal, implant, 2 crowns and 2 fillings. That's a more than reasonable price, and national health care will probably pay half of it.
I'm very, very relieved now.
Still a bit afraid of Thursday because that will, after all, be surgery, but if I'm lucky it won't be too bad, and I'll stay home on Friday anyway.

And now I'm going to watch the 2008 BBC series of Sense and Sensibility I bought on Sunday, because I deserve a bit of pampering.
