May. 10th, 2009 11:40 amAs I said in yesterday's post, 'm sorry the drabbles are taking me so long. I'm trying to cut back on computer time, because that %$§/"&%$§" pain in my upper back doesn't seem to want to leave me. It's ok while I'm up and moving, or sitting comfortably and reclining, but sitting at a table/desk and writing seems to be the worst position. Which is great if you have a sedentary job involving lots of writing...
Anyway, I managed to dye my hair today. It's growing rather fast, showing an alarming amount of grey. Not so much that the colour looks wonky, though.
I'm almost through with watching Dr. Who (one disc left of the 3rd series) and I love it, just as I'd expected I would. The episode titled "Blink" (3rd season) is my favourite so far. Absolutely effing brilliant -- small wonder, it was written by Steven Moffat -- and I'll have to rewatch it at least twice in order to fully appreciate its utter genius.
Dr Who certainly leaves more than enough room for fanfic, but I'm finding myself strangely uninspired. That must be due to the fact that the characters feel more like "real-life people" to me, because the actors *are* real-life people, than characters who have taken shape exclusively in my head. Much as I love Jason Isaacs as Lucius, when I write Lucius fic I certainly don't think of movie!Lucius. I don't think I could write SSHG thinking of Alan Rickman and Emma Watson, because it frankly grosses me out. It's nothing to do with Rickman, Watson or Isaacs coming more or less close to my own image of the characters, because Jason Isaacs *does* come pretty close. I merely feel that writing fanfic with specific actors in mind would be some kind of violation. It just wouldn't feel right. Of course, I'm referring strictly to myself here -- no judgement of other writers is implied.
That's all, folks. *waves* *winces* Time to switch off and assume non-pain-inducing position.
