Kitten

My colleague Alexandra found a kitten today, about 7 weeks old (teeth already out, can eat on his own), cowering in a corner next to the US Embassy. No mother in sight. 8-lane Atatürk Boulevard very much in sight, so she picked the kitten up and took it -- three guesses -- to my office.
Fortunately I'm going to have lunch today with a professor at the vet University. Among other good deeds, they also raise and care for stray kittens -- if they can find homes for them they give them away, and if they can't, they castrate them and let them have the run of the (huge) compound.
So this little boy is going there. He's totally and devastatingly lovely, head-butts, purrs and lies on his back to have his belly scratched. There's still very little fur on that round, pink belly. *melts*
But he'll have a good life, and that's all that counts.
Must remember not to touch ze boyz today when I get home, strip completely and scrub myself down under a hot shower, because the little critter crawled all over me, and who knows which diseases he might carry.
Right now he's asleep in a (sufficiently high) cardboard boy, after having eaten his fill.
Every cloud has its silver lining: it's a good thing the Ambassador from hell never sets foot into our part of the Embassy.
