Brief update
Jun. 19th, 2009 07:10 amAfter the rather intense packing day in Ankara, I came back to Vienna on the 11th. There was a nice scene in the morning of that day, with more unknown people pretending to be related to the landlord, and a representative of the estate agent's office, who gave a whole new meaning to the word incompetent. (She actually started to cry)
Since I confirmed my intention of paying the security deposit but not a cent more, the landlord's people were incredibly pissed-off, but obviously couldn't do anything. We didn't part on friendly terms, but at least it's all behind me now.
The weekend after that (i.e. 13th and 14th) was spent in Innsbruck with my brother and his girlfriend. We had a good time talking, going for a walk, playing table tennis and other leisurely things. I got a bit too much sun, and having to take the plane at 7 a.m.on Saturday wasn't exactly great, but all in all it was an extremely enjoyable weekend.
This week has passed too quickly. I suppose it was because of the very balanced mix between things-to-be-done-before-Skopje, meeting friends, spending time with nephew Daniel and -- finally!!! -- having my shoulder treated. It's beginning to get better, and I have high hopes for it to actually stop hurting before I leave.
Landlord from Skopje is keeping his promises: cat nets are installed, so are internet and aircon units, most of furniture has arrived, rest will arrive today. My diplomatic passport for Skopje arrived yesterday, which was a big relief, since the moving company needs a copy to do all the customs stuff. So my air freight will in all probability be despatched in time. If there's a problem, I'll have to rebook my flight from the 26th to the 29th or 30th -- not what I had planned, but not a drama.
I'm afraid there won't be much online time these days, but I'll try to catch up once I'm in Skopje. If there's anything you'd like me to know, please send message.
