Things are looking up.
Yesterday's lecture went well, and what I'd prepared was more than enough. The people liked it -- so much so, in fact, that they asked me if I was willing to do it again. I said yes... But frankly, having to do this kind of thing, i.e. a bit of preparation and thinking and planning a lecture for students is good for me, I think. Otherwise I might become too complacent.

Today: KFOR guys are coming at 10, and I'll spend the morning sightseeing with them and Stefan. Then lunch, then back to the embassy, because a visitor from Austria -- former provincial governor of Salzburg -- is coming to see the boss at 3. After that, I have to accompany the visitor to the OSCE mission, where he'll be getting  a briefing on the overall situation, and after that I'll head home. Dinner (for visitor + KFOR + Stefan) at 19.30, so I'll be able to squeeze in a bit of exercise at home.

Total clothes crisis this morning. This happens from time to time, when I have a very clear idea of what I want to wear and then, for some reason, realize that it's not the right outfit. I meant to wear a long, black pencil skirt today, with a nice shirt and jeans jacket, but then had to admit that the skirt can only be worn with very high heels, which might be a tad impractical for sightseeing. So I changed, and then changed again, all the time berating myself for being a silly cow. Silly cow is now wearing beige trousers with black pinstripe, black shirt and jeans jacket, and moderately high heels. Much more appropriate.

Cornelius has again taken up his habit of singing at dawn with the birds. Or rather, trying to be louder than the birds. Unfortunately he succeeds, which means he woke me up today at 4.55. I threatened to kill him, upon which he stretched out on my pillow, offering his fat belly for me to scratch, and purred loudly. My killer instincts didn't survive in ze face of ze cuteness. I hope it's merely a fad and won't last too long, because if he continues doing that, I'll be up at 4 every day as the days get longer. The problem is, I can't simply close the bedroom door, because ze boyz are used to all the doors being open all the time -- so am I, BTW, and I'd hate sleeping with the bedroom door closed -- and therefore they'd surely make a racket all night long, which would be even worse than the early morning serenades.

Not the worst that can happen, but surely among the top five: crotch seam of trousers unravels. Happened to me today. Am still wearing the trousers, knees squeezed together veeeeery tighly, am going to fucking kill the tailor. Will not accompany visitor to OSCE but go straight home. Nothing visible from behind, but only just barely not, and seam might unravel further in which case I'm screwed. Agony!
