The flight back to Skopje was half an hour late, but otherwise uneventful. I brazenly went past customs control with 2 bottles of whisky, instad of the one that's allowed -- no big thrill there, because they're not allowed to search me anyway. However, the bag was transparent, so at least I got the satisfaction of being Very Openly Ignoring Customs Regulations (But Completely Ignored). Not for my own sake, though, because one bottle is for my tailor. The fact that I left it at home today doesn't help much. *speculates about tailor having forgotten promise of whisky* (To justify the greed, all I can say is that it's very good whisky. Talisker.)

Yesterday I went to the gym at 12, only to discover that during the summer months they don't open at 10 but at 2 p.m. Bummer. So I did a bit of grumbling grocery shopping and returned home for a bit of home sports. At 4 p.m. the whole embassy staff met at a restaurant to celebrate Charlie's birthday and incipient 2-week holiday. I had to leave at 5.30 because of tennis, but since Valentina had for once managed to snag a clay court, I didn't want to give it up. Quiet evening, restful night.
Thus rested and relaxed, I didn't even think of fainting when I opened my work mailbox, but disposed of the whole lot in about 1,5 hours. Feeling rather accomplished now, especially bearing in mind that today is Friday, nothing much is going to happen, and the weekend is only 7 hrs away. If Babylon 5 arrives in today's diplomatic mail, and there's no reason why it shouldn't, the weekend will consist of sports (tennis and running on Saturday and Sunday), the Germany vs. Argentina game, and Babylon 5. Not too bad, I think.  No dancing lesson tomorrow because of the game, which I really, really don't want to miss. It's going to be great!

Boss will indeed be absent from 5 to 12 July, Charlie is already gone and will be back only on the 19th. 'tis the quiet time, and I like that a lot.

Last appointment with tailor today (that's why I ought to have brought the whisky), i.e. in the sense of "no more new clothes till autumn". Not only do I not need any more clothes now, the wardrobe space is also getting a bit tight. I am, however, looking forward to today's piece. Last time I was there I saw a piece of "Chinese" cloth, i.e. that intensely sheer satin with an inwoven pattern of dragons. Colour: fuchsia. Lurid is the only word that comes to mind. BUT, and yes, that's a capital but, since the pattern isn't printed but woven, the reverse side looks fantastic. Stripes, about 3 or 4 cm wide, in muted shades of pistachio, mustard yellow, powder blue and dark orange, with the dragon pattern still recognizable but not overly obvious. Renaissance colours. So he made me a jacket, using the reverse side, and two satin tops in exactly the right shades of green and orange. I expect it to look fabulous (3/4 sleeves with a small slit, Chanel cut). The kind of jacket you can wear with both jeans and a silk skirt.
Erm, yes. I've turned back into the clothes horse I used to be 10 years ago -- hadn't discovered fandom or LJ back then, so you've been mercifully spared similar outbursts in past years.

One last observation: body flirting with menopause is a pain in the arse. No detectable mood swings as of yet, but OMG the periods. 26 days. 28 days. 31 days. I almost don't dare anymore to wear any light-coloured trousers at any time between day 20 and day X.
