As planned, I set out shortly after 9 to roam the arid lands in search for furniture.
They really don't have much here. Frankly, I wonder how people *do* get their houses furnished, let alone how they manage to procure things to eat their meals from. Because in my hopeless
But I found furniture for the common room. Two armchairs, one two-seater and one three-seater for a total of € 850, minus the tax refund, so it's going to be around 700 in the end. Now I merely have to do a cunning administrative operation, i.e. put the pieces into different places on the inventory list, so headquarters won't behead me for buying something that costs over € 450 without previous authorization. But me iz cunning.
I also bought ingredients for a tuna-and-greens salad, which Vesna is now preparing, so we're going to have our first lunch in the new room. Oh, and I got a tub of vanilla ice cream so we can have iced coffee Viennese style later on. (Th real thing is: cold black coffee with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream on top, but we'll do better without the cream)
I just love buying things for the children.
Ana, my secretary, who accompanied me, told me about a market I hadn't been aware of. Fruit, veggies, cheese, fish. If the weather really gets cooler on Sunday -- and all weatherforecasts are unanimous that it will -- I'm going to check it out. Not that I feel much like cooking with this heat, but there are salads as well, and if the temperature goes down, I might even endeavour to do a bit of cooking. No fresh fish for ze boyz, though, because I tried that in Ankara and in the end had to eat it all by myself. They just prefer their tinned food. Great, because one small tin costs € 1.40. Then again they only get one per day, and I want them to be healthy and live to a ripe old age.
Did I say it's ex-bloody-temely hot? 30° at 10 a.m. And humid, due to the storms of the past days. Tennis today at 5. o_O
