Got haircut and colour yesterday. Igor the hairdresser is a genius, and I'm very lucky to have found him.
Then Valentina chased me around the court for 1,5 hrs.
I asked her whether the way Sunday's double had turned out, i.e. Mr H warming up with her and unleashing all his pent-up frustration on her, was ok -- I mean I do pay for the lessons, but that doesn't mean she's got to do whatever I ask of her. And of course I'm aware that she can hold her own against him (which is funny, really, because she's my height and can't weigh much more than 50 kg). She said it was fine.
Then: He is very strange.
Me, glumly: I know.
Valentina: When he made a few mistakes with volleys, and I told him, he just shrugged and said, I know.
Me: Well, firstly he's a man, and secondly he's from ...
Valentina: Yes, I thought he was a bit of a macho.
Me: *snort*
Valentina: And the way he plays... I mean he's good, but he wants everybody to see that he's good.
Me: Tell me something I don't know. *headraquet*
At 7.30 I met Erin at my new favourite restaurant, favourite, that is, for when I'm in a carnivorous mood, because they have the most fabulous steaks. We had Macedonian starters, which made us so full that we had to share a steak afterwards, because eating a whole one would have been as impossible as it was desirable. I think I'll never get tired of eating those paper-thin, dipped-in-flour-and-deep-fried zucchini slices. And the mushrooms in white wine. And... well, pretty much all of it.
It was a great night out, even though I'm a bit on the tired side today, because I came home at 11.30 and consequently only got about 5 hrs sleep. What a pity that she'll have to leave next March. Let's see which of the places she's applied for she'll be posted to. If it'sMali, there's only a very slim chance I'll visit...
Today I'm going to meet a former colleague from Ankara, who works at the Slovenian Embassy there. He's currently visiting the Slovenian consul here, who is his friend, and when he heard I was here, he asked whether we could meet for a coffee. I used to rather fancy him in a very subdued way and so am rather looking forward to our coffee at 10. Lunch with the opera director at 2 -- that's the one I had to postpone last Friday due to back pain and general blah -- and Tennis at 4.30 with Elena. Unless it starts raining, in which case I'll just have to go to the gym. The weather is pretty unreliable these days: unseasonably warm (around 18 or 19°), very tepid nights (10 to 13°), humid and cloudy with intermittent rain.
Placed large food and household stuff order yesterday by internet, which is goin to be delivered today, while Slavica is at my place. I think I forgot none of the things I ought to have in the house when Janine is here. Except for sweets, although I didn't forget those but wanted to ask her what she wants before getting it. And I'll need to buy some veggies, because I suppose she'll want to stay in on Friday evening, and I'll have to cook. She already put in a request to go to Vodenica on Saturday evening, because she's still dreaming of their pancakes. Request will of course be granted, as those pancakes are something even sweet-disinclined me likes to eat every once in a while.
That seems to be all. *snores*
