Tuesday mélange
Nov. 16th, 2010 12:11 pmI was so hungry this morning that I actually ate a piece of chocolate the boss gave me, claiming that he was slightly scared of the sheer hungriness I was exuding. Now I'm having something delicious, hot and heavy with sesame on top. Ber-loody hell, those Macedonians can bake.
Sudden enlightenment this morning (earlier, before hunger struck) about languages: English and French have practically no diminutive forms, whereas German, Italian and Macedonian have them. In English (correct me if I'm wrong) you can use -let in a very limited way, like for piglet, but otherwise you don't have diminutive forms. In French it's the same with -el/elle and -et/-ette, but that's quite limited, too.
/end of linguistic enlightenment
I have 8 days of paid leave from 2009, and all 25 days from 2010. Ergo, Something Must be Done. Ergo, there shall be long weekends. In order to show that I'm really serious about that, I'll take this Friday off. I love long weekends.
Dinner tonight with the friend who probably wrote the anonymous letters. Well that's going to be fun. On the plus side, there shall be steak.
Dinner on Thursday with Ursula and Stefanie, preceded and followed by heavy drinking, because we haz woes to drown. That's really going to be fun, especially since I won't be working on Friday.
Tomorrow boss and I are going to Bitola, to visit the mayor and to have a look at the books we donated to the university library. Boss's mood has somewhat improved, so that's going to be fun as well.
And now I'm tired, due to heavy, sesame-y thing I ate.
That's it, I'm afraid. Because I'm not going to remark on Mr H returning (or having returned already, I suppose, plane lands at 11.30) today.
