The rest of a rather sports-heavy weekend
Jan. 17th, 2011 11:34 amHiking up the Vodno yesterday was fun -- I wouldn't like to do it with too big a group, but four is perfect. So we chatted and had fun, the sun was shining (and it's really strong already), and the steeper inclines didn't seem so steep at all. We'd started at 10 according to schedule and arrived back home at 12.45, with plenty of time to spare for changing clothes, grabbing a quick bite and then going to play tennis with Stefanie and Valentina.
Tennis was rather abysmal yesterday, or rather it was the serves that were abysmal.
My legs, especially the quadriceps, are protesting a bit, but the enjoyment of many hours out in the sunshine was certainly worth a bit of soreness.
Moment of total hilarity:
Alexandra: I wonder if it's possible to educate Lola at all.
Me: Well, you can use a squirt bottle, that works rather well.
Stefanie: Or all kinds of citrus fruit, because they don't like that.
A: Oh, that sounds good. Do you have to cut it up, or just leave it whole?
S: Erm... Not sure. Maybe you could just throw it.
Me: In that case, a coconut would be even more effective.
S: True. I heard watermelons work a treat.
Me: Or really big cabbage.
S: Or potatoes, but only in 10kg-bags.
It was one of those "you had to be there" moments, but god, did we laugh.
Lola has almost completely recovered from her surgery and is enjoying life with the Mother Goddess again.
Aaaaand... *drumroll* It seems as if Lola is ging to get a companion after all. Alexandra is 90% decided to take in the other black cat, which is maybe 6 months younger than Lola and, if she is adopted, will be called Mimi. (Unless of course she's a boy) Mimi and Lola sounds very nice for a pair of pitch-black cats, doesn't it?
Irene and I are envisaging a short trip to Greece in the second half of February. There is a tour operator offering a package that consists of: trip in a modern bus (a rather small one) plus 2 nights and half-board in a truly fantastic place on Chalkidike for around € 150, departure on Friday at 2 p.m., return on Sunday around 6 p.m. Even though sea-bathing isn't possible, long walks on the beach are, and they have tennis courts, too. And an indoor pool, which isn't something I particularly like, but a bit of swimming won't be bad for me. So if the weather forecast seems good enough, we'll do our trip.
In other news, there's no other news. I'm contemplating taking Friday off work, but not sure yet. I'll be on leave from the 27th to 4 February anyway, so it doesn't seem especially necessary or anything. But it would be nice.
Did I mention that the weather is gorgeous today? I'd *love* to be out somewhere...
