Sins, revisited
Mar. 10th, 2011 09:04 amBefore telling all and sundry what causes the cup of my wrath to runneth over, let me say that the good mood is still firmly in place. It's due to the sunny weather, I think, and also to having slept like a dead thing, for nine hours.
Yesterday went surprisingly well, considering that nowadays I don't function too well on four hours of sleep. The problem was that I'd expected a calm day, and then it turned out to be not so calm after all. Boss still hasn't got rid of his cold; on the contrary, the thing has gone downright nasty -- a bronchitis that sounds pretty bad, and angina on top of that. He's taking antibiotics but -- as far as I can tell -- feeling like shit. Well, he doesn't go to great lengths to hide how he's feeling, poor guy, because I guess he simply hasn't got the strength.
So, the ceremonies etc. for the opening of the new Holocaust Memorial Centre started yesterday, and we had a participant coming from Vienna. The fact that boss asked me to go to the airport instead of him speaks volumes anyway -- he never, ever does that unless he's practically dead. So I went to the airport to receive our guest, then took him to lunch (boss joined us briefly), and then went on to accompany him to an appointment at the Foreign Ministry (also in boss's stead) and from there to the first ceremony. Boss took over there, and I went back to the Embassy. That was the moment when fatigue kicked in, but since I didn't have any plans for the night, I just went home, paid a visit to Lola and then collapsed on the couch with comfort food (spaghetti with tomato sauce), red wine, boyz and part 2 of Lord of the Rings. Must have fallen asleep shortly after 8, transfer to bed around 00.30, and woke up at 5.30. So today I'm human again.
I cancelled my Macedonian lesson, merely in case boss was feeling too ill to participate in today's ceremonies, but he seems wildly determined to go. I'll do the airport run afterwards, though.
And now, Day 3 of the Seven Deadly Sins:
Day 1- Pride. Seven great things about yourself.
Day 2- Greed. Seven worldly material desires.
Day 3- Wrath. Seven things that piss you off.
Day 4- Sloth. Seven things you neglect to do.
Day 5- Envy. Seven qualities you lack and covet.
Day 6- Gluttony. Seven guilty pleasures.
Day 7- Lust. Seven love secrets
( Grrrrrrrrrr )
