...today at 4.45 -- what a thunderstorm! Lola, that wuss, is actually afraid of the thunder and has to hide. Ze boyz are totally impervious to the terrors of storms. And I enjoyed a long, lazy morning; since I'd slept 6 hrs anyway I wasn't even tired.

Vet visit yesterday went totally smoothly. Firstly, the taxi driver offered to wait -- I practically had to force him not to switch the taxameter off while waiting -- and secondly, the vet did a clever thing: instead of pulling ze reluctant boyz out of their container, he merely took off the top and gave them their shots while they were sitting (well, rather more cowering, poor things) in the bottom part. So they had a minimum of stress. He cut Cornelius's claws, but Lucius refused to cooperate when it came to pedicure. Manicure was more or less ok, but he didn't want us to continue with the hind legs. I'll cut the claws one by one while he's sleeping I think.

Boss is still being followed by the obstinate, enamoured dog.
Yesterday this caused a rather hilarious dialogue on the phone. I'd just got back from the vet when boss called me re. the report I'd written before leaving.
Boss: Sorry to disturb you.
Me: No prob, I'm already home.
Boss: Yes, but... I mean, me calling you during your time off is a bit like the dog following me.
Me, after explosion of laughter: I think, considering the motive *why* the dog is following you, this isn't a particularly lucky comparison, is it?
Silence at the other end.
Boss: Erm, no, maybe not.

When he called me again in the evening, I merely answered the phone by saying "woof, woof".

Lola *is* an emissary from hell. Not only do we have thunderstorms every day, and their epicentre is more or less right above the Vodno, the night before last she also managed a road accident.
Ze boyz now allow her to sleep in the bed with the three of us, and she was lying in the crook of my arm. Around 2.30 a.m. she woke me and twenty seconds later I heard brakes screeching and the telltale thump! up on the Vodno road. (nothing much happened, BTW, just a drunk guy who didn't quite get a curve and half-bumped into a tree). I'm really impressed -- the clever girl even woke me in order to have a witness to her prowess.

In other news, there aren't any other news. Still not sure whether to go to the Brits' reception tonight (Queen's birthday) -- if Stefanie feels like going running, I'll sacrifice the not-so-glamorous event to exercise.
