Pride

So I finally got my cat books yesterday and of course started reading immediately. And yes, I'm disgustingly proud of myself. I did practically everything right. Everything, as in, don't intervene actively in confrontations but merely try to distract the cats by walking past or between them, don't force anything, don't make the mistake of giving even more attention to the residents cat(s) because you have a bad conscience for having foisted an "intruder" upon them, etc., etc.
I knew I was better with cats than with men.
*sighs*
But I think I'll dig up the author, who is an Austrian vet and animal psychologist, and ask her a few questions -- I hope she'll agree to my proposal of a phone interview, for which I'm of course going to pay a regular consultation fee. The thing is, yes, I did everything right, but I want to know how to go about the "forbidden places", i.e. the couch and (still sometimes) my bed. Maybe *I* need to switch places; instead of reading on the living room couch I ought to do so on the red couch, which is less of a hot spot. If the author is willing to give advice per telephone, I'm sure we're all going to benefit from it.

Unglamorous life is unglamorous.
Tennis yesterday from 4.30 to 6, Pilates from 6.45 to 7.45, enormous plate of pasta, half an hour of playing with the cats, couch. But I watched a few interesting things about Greece on German TV, and must have fallen asleep around 10 p.m.
Glamour coefficient will shoot through the roof tonight, though, because I have to go to the Slovenian National Day reception. (No sports, grrr)

And a major OMGWTFBBQ: I just started looking at the user manual we'll be using for the training in Vienna. It's about bookkeeping. It's... well, complex. We'll start using that programme in January 2012. No-fucking-body will remember one single thing after 6 months, as is always the case when you learn something new but don't actively use it. So the ministry spends a shitload of money to herd us all to Vienna, not in November/December but June, instead of using e-learning with tailored training for the people who actually do the work, those who authorize payments and those who re-authorize the authorization. Mustn't think about this too much, because it makes me rather angry.
