Having another long weekend
Jul. 8th, 2011 06:29 am...because boss leaves for the first part of his holiday on Tuesday. I'm not really in a working mood these days, so the long weekend might help. Doing a few things I've been procrastinating might also help... Well there's always next week.
Not much else to report.
My brother sent me my cousin's email address, so I'll write to him on the weekend -- this isn't just some mail, after all, but has to be carefully composed.
The Austrian vet who wrote the -- very good and instructive -- book on how to manage two or more cats responded to a message I'd written her before going to Vienna. Very, very encouraging: she said that the trio's situation, as I'd described it to her, is as close to perfect as possible under the circumstances, because really close relationships like the one ze boyz have can only be formed if all parties involved are less than one year old.
So that was good news, and I also got one of those feel-good-pheromone thingies (which you plug in like the mosquito repellent thingies), and that, too, seems to make the critters a bit more relaxed. Or as relaxed as they get, because in order to make Lola relaxed in the early morning you'd have to hit her over the head with the device.
Elena, too, will be leaving on Sunday for a ten-day holiday in Greece, so no tennis till 20 July. I'll be playing with Pinar of course, and maybe I'll sink so deep as to call Oliver, the ex-director of the opera, for a game or two. Unfortunately Gerald, the new colleague, hasn't yet got his stuff, and he understandably doesn't want to buy another racquet etc., so playing with him will have to wait.
Pilates instructor is on holiday as well but will be back on 18 July.
Looks like there will be a lot of running going on next week...
Oh, and I got my Case Histories DVD! Already watched the first three episodes. Even though the Jackson Brodie of my imagination didn't look like Jason Isaacs, I must say he's very convincing. (Might be favourably influenced by him being without shirt so often...) It's been years since I read the book, so I'm not quite sure, but I think they've incorporated elements from other Atkinson books into the tv series. Might be wrong, though, and as long as I get to watch six hours' worth of Isaacs, I'm not going to be overly critical.
Not quite decided yet what to do with my day off today -- tennis from 9 to 11 is a given, and afterwards coffee and a book at the tennis club, under the enormous old tree. Its very, very hot (around 35°), which means that, if I go home afterwards and take a shower, I'm not really likely to leave the coolness of my flat anytime soon. So maybe I'll just go grocery shopping, spend a lazy afternoon and then prepare dinner for Irene and me. Salad, methinks, but an elaborate one. OTOH, having a look at the sales is tempting, too. If I go to the Ramstore shopping mall, though, I could combine both grocery shopping and sales, so that's probably what's going to happen. And I can still have a lazy afternoon.
